Consolidated-Tomoka Raises Money for Volusia County Teachers and Brings The Mavericks to Central Florida

This past week, our client Consolidated-Tomoka Land Co. sponsored a charity concert featuring the Grammy Award-winning Americana band “The Mavericks” to benefit Volusia County teachers through its Play it Forward Daytona nonprofit entity. The benefit concert was held at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, and Consolidated-Tomoka committed $7,500 in addition to money raised from other sponsors. Lowndes was proud to serve as a presenting sponsor at the performance. Proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of supplies for elementary schools in Daytona Beach. Nominees of the Futures Foundation Teachers of the Year and their school principals received free admission to the concert.

The Mavericks, founded in 1989 in Miami, are best known for their neotraditional country songs that combine Latin and rockabilly influences. The band has had 14 singles on the Billboard country charts and won a Grammy in 1995 for Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. More recently, the band took home an Americana Award for Duo/Group of the Year.
